Van Slams Into Utility Pole On Route 208 In Fair Lawn

FAIR LAWN, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Traffic is at a standstill on Route 208 in Fair Lawn after a van slammed into a utility pole Tuesday morning.

The van was heading southbound on Route 208 around 10:40 a.m. when it went off roadway south of Maple Avenue and struck the pole, snapping it in half, CBS2's Jim Smith reported.

Route 208 is closed in both directions in the area. The southbound side is closed off at Maple Avenue, northbound traffic is being detoured off McBride Avenue.

Video from the scene shows the bottom half of the pole on the ground and the top half suspended by power lines.
