Explosion Injures 2 At New Jersey's Picatinny Arsenal

ROCKAWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Two Army civilian employees were injured in an explosion Wednesday at the Picatinny Arsenal in Morris County.

The accident happened around 11 a .m. Wednesday, the Army said. It said the employees are explosives technicians who were performing an operation on an explosive device.

One employee was taken by helicopter to a hospital, while the other was driven there by ambulance. The injuries are not considered life-threatening, but further details were not immediately disclosed.

The incident is under investigation, and explosive ordnance disposal technicians were clearing the scene of the explosion.

The arsenal is about 35 miles west of New York City.
