Ex-South Plainfield Police Captain Sentenced For Sexually Exploiting Girl

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) - A former northern New Jersey police captain is going to prison for 20 years for sexually exploiting a girl by enticing her to live-stream explicit acts online in exchange for payment.

A federal judge in Newark on Friday also ordered 52-year-old Michael Grennier to serve a lifetime of supervised release.

The former South Plainfield police captain pleaded guilty to a complaint charging him with production of child pornography.

Grennier was arrested in 2013, just days after prosecutors said he enticed the girl to perform sexually explicit acts and stream the images online while he watched remotely from his home computer. During the Valentine's Day webcam session, Grennier directed the girl's actions via text messages.

Prosecutors said Grennier promised to buy his victim clothing in exchange for her performance.
