Long Island Woman Running From NYC To Montauk To Raise Money For Kids Fighting Cancer

EAST MORICHES, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Long Island woman is running from lower Manhattan to Montauk to raise money for charity.

Eva Casale, 50, is running 150 miles to raise $150,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

WCBS 880's Sophia Hall caught up to her in East Moriches.

"I'm just taking it one step at a time, and the support's been really great," the Glen Cove resident said.

Although she was not personally touched by the disease, she said she wanted to raise money for the children who are undergoing treatments for the blood cancers.

"Might be extremely emotional when I cross the finish line," Casale said. "All the children will get me there.

"There are some patient heroes that we run for, and we lost one last year, and it was very upsetting."
