New Jersey Park Renamed After Rutgers Football Player Eric LeGrand

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- There was a special honor Sunday for former Rutgers football player Eric LeGrand in Woodbridge Township, New Jersey, where a park was renamed the "Eric LeGrand Believe Park."

Six years ago today, LeGrand was paralyzed from the neck down while making a tackle.

He has since regained some movement in his shoulders.

LeGrand said he used to play in the park that now bears his name.

"We'd just come here. You'd have a good time – played games, got better as kids, do what kids do. When they wanted to name it after me, wow, such an honor," he said.

Next year, the "Eric LeGrand Believe Park" will feature a new handicap-accessible playground.
