Derailed equipment train snarls evening LIRR commute

NEW YORK -- An equipment train partially derailed in Queens on Thursday afternoon.

It happened near the Queens Village train station just before 2 p.m.

No injuries were reported.

Passengers didn't appear to be experiencing delays at Penn Station, but the Long Island Rail Road was reporting delays at stations on Long Island.

If you are traveling to or from Long Island, the MTA you can expect service delays on the Port Jefferson, Ronkonkoma, Oyster Bay and Hempstead lines.

From Hicksville, there is extremely limited westbound service from those four branches and it is advised that you use Babylon, Montauk, or Port Washington branches for westbound rush hour service.

Lastly, for all you Eagles fans heading to Madison Square Garden for the concert on Thursday night, you should use the Babylon, Montauk, or Port Washington branches.
