Man Shot In Both Legs In Englewood, New Jersey

ENGLEWOOD, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Police in Englewood, New Jersey were investigating Tuesday evening, after a housesitter was shot in the legs during a robbery.

As WCBS 880's Kelly Waldron reported, the quiet of Howland Avenue in Englewood was interrupted by gunfire in the early morning hours Tuesday, when the 33-year-old Garfield resident was shot in both legs.

A man named Al said he has lived on the block for 30 years.

"As you see it now, that's the way this block is, just like this," Al said. "It's always quiet, so I don't really know what happened."

Police believe the motive was robbery and the victim was specifically targeted. Malcolm Walker, 8, woke up to the news.

"I was nervous, I was scared, and I didn't want to come outside," Malcolm said. "But I did come outside."

An undisclosed amount of cash was taken along with the victim's cellphone and car keys, which were found a block away.
