Electrical Fires Cause Manholes To Pop Off In Red Bank

RED BANK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A series of manhole explosions left hundreds briefly without power in Red Bank, New Jersey.

At the height of the power outage, about 260 homes near Broad and Canal streets were without electricity. As of 11:45 p.m., all but about 10 customers had power restored, 1010 WINS reported.

JCP&L said underground electrical fires caused multiple manhole covers to pop off on Sunday.

It is not yet clear exactly how many manholes were affected.
