Police: Suspect Fled In Cab After Shoving Elderly Man On Upper East Side Street

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The NYPD has asked the public for help in identifying a suspect wanted in connection with an assault on an elderly man on the Upper East Side.

Just before 7 a.m. on June 30, a 91-year-old man was walking across from 355 E. 86th St. He was approached by a male suspect, who shoved him to the ground before fleeing the scene and jumping into a taxi at East 85th Street and First Ave, police said.

The victim suffered a broken right arm and an abrasion to his forehead. He was transported by EMS To NewYork Presbyterian-Columbia University Medical Center where he was treated and released.

The suspect has been described as a white male, approximately 5" 9', 170 pounds, with brown hair. He was wearing a red shirt, white sneakers, and blue jeans.
