East River Tunnel Track Condition Snarls Commute For Some LIRR Riders

GREAT NECK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Trains are running on or close to schedule again after a track condition in one of the East River tunnels snarled the morning commute for Long Island Rail Road riders.

The LIRR was reporting delays up to 60 minutes into Penn Station and 15 minute delays eastbound due to the track condition Wednesday morning.

Earlier, a man was found conscious and alert on the tracks after being struck by a LIRR train at the Great Neck Plaza station around 7:05 a.m.

The Port Washington branch was suspended for a time, but the LIRR says limited service has been restored in both directions.
