LIRR Service Back To Normal Following Earlier Signal Trouble In East River Tunnel

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Some Long Island Rail Road riders faced a challenging commute Tuesday morning.

Signal trouble in one of the East River tunnels prompted westbound service delays and cancellations during the height of rush hour.

Some trains were diverted to Hunterspoint Avenue or Atlantic Terminal, where NYC Transit was cross-honoring LIRR fares.

The LIRR reported service was operating on or close to schedule around 9:20 a.m.
