NYPD: 2 Killed In Brooklyn Hit-And-Run, Suspects Fled Scene On Foot

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed two people in Brooklyn.

It happened near Flatlands and Pennsylvania avenues in East New York just before 11 p.m. Saturday.

According to investigators, the driver of a dark BMW was apparently speeding south on Pennsylvania Avenue when he hit a Toyota Camry that was heading east on Flatlands Avenue.

Two women, 51-year-old Sandra Labrice and 58-year-old Nerlye Stvil, were inside the Toyota and had to be rescued by first responders.

Authorities say both were rushed to a local hospital, but both died from their injuries.

CBS2's Cory James spoke to Labrice's daughter, Alexandria.

"I just lost half of me. I don't have a mother," she said.

At 4 a.m. Sunday, she learned her mother was killed in the crash.

"Detectives came over, and they told us the news because at first, they didn't know who the bodies were. They couldn't find their IDs or anything," Alexandria said.

Loved ones say Labrice was driving Stvil's Toyota Camry.

"It's been terrible, just a lot of people crying," Alexandria said.

Alexandria says her mom and Stvil were co-workers, and at the time of the crash, they were about five minutes away from work, where they cared for people who are disabled.

"It's the same routine from 11 to 7," Alexandria said. "They always carpooled to work and came back in the morning together."

Labrice's family says she was a giving woman who always put others before herself. She leaves behind two children, including an 8-year-old girl, and a husband of 35 years.

Stvil's family was too emotional to speak but said she was engaged to be married and had a caring and loving heart.

Police are now looking for two unidentified men who got out of the BMW and took off running after the crash.
