East Meadow Man Faces Murder Charge In Wife's Death

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Long Island man is facing a murder charge in connection with his wife's death.

Hector Bejarano, 53, will be arraigned Thursday on a second-degree murder charge, Nassau County police said.

His wife, 52-year-old Miriam Bejarano, was found dead in their home on Prospect Avenue in East Meadow last month.

1010 WINS has learned that Bejarano is accused of repeatedly hitting his wife in the head with a dumbbell.

As 1010 WINS' Mona Rivera reported, authorities did not discuss the alleged murder weapon on Thursday.

"We believe at this point that we have identified that weapon, piece of evidence that we don't want to talk about right now," a police source said.

Neighbors said the couple has two adult children.
