16-Year-Old Boy Dies Two Days After East Harlem Shooting

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A 16-year-old boy has died two days after he was shot in the head near a public housing development in East Harlem.

Juwan "Chico" Tavarez was found shot outside the Jefferson Houses at Third Avenue near 112th Street around 4:45 p.m. Friday, police said.

Tavarez was taken to Harlem Hospital in critical condition. He succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, police said.

It is unknown if Tavarez was the intended target of the shooting, CBS2 reported.

No arrests have been made.

The investigation is ongoing.
