Police: Man Issued Summons After Flying Drone Over Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police issued a summons to a 41-year-old man who allegedly flew a drone over the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, police said.

The incident happened around 11 a.m. near West 77th Street and Central Park West.

Police caught up to the drone's operator at 80th Street and Central Park West, police confirmed to 1010 WINS. He was taken into custody for questioning.

The man, who is from Russia, was with his son and claimed to be unaware of the city's drone restrictions, WCBS 880's Stephanie Colombini reported.

The incident happened at a time when fears of a possible terrorist attack have been heightened in the wake of the Paris attacks.

The NYPD had 2,500 officers at the parade, the most it has ever deployed for the event.
