Pickup Truck Fire On Driscoll Bridge Snags Garden State Parkway

KEASBEY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Traffic was snagged on the Driscoll Bridge on the Garden State Parkway Wednesday afternoon, after a pickup truck caught fire and sent flaming trails of fuel down the side of the roadway.

As of around 5:20 p.m., the white pickup truck was in flames on the northbound Garden State Parkway, right on the Driscoll Bridge over the Raritan River, Joe Biermann reported from Chopper 2.

The gas tank ruptured, and fuel ran down the roadway, leaving a trail ignited in flames next to the barrier wall in the median. Firefighters put out the flames in the roadway with a hand extinguisher.

Traffic problems were expected to persist on the northbound Garden State Parkway.

There was no immediate word on injuries.
