Two Killed, Several Injured In Collision On I-78 In Warren Township

WARREN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Two people are dead and at least two injured in a double fatal crash that happened Saturday evening on Interstate 78 in the Warren Township area of New Jersey, according to New Jersey State Police.

Troopers attempted to stop the driver of a Honda for driving erratically on I-78 westbound around 8:42 p.m. in Berkeley Heights Township.

When the driver failed to stop, troopers followed the vehicle for approximately three miles before the driver lost control and ran off of the road to the right into a wooded area.

Two men inside the vehicle died at the scene, authorities say.

At the same location, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in a separate collision. The driver of the vehicle was flown to Morristown Memorial with serious injuries, and the pedestrian was transported by ambulance to the same hospital.

No troopers were injured in either crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
