Woman Caught On Camera Stealing Dog Outside Williamsburg Store

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A dog-napper was caught on video picking up a pup and fleeing the Williamsburg area Sunday evening.

As CBS2's Valerie Castro reports, Guadalupe Garcia is still trying to understand why the blonde woman in a red shirt would come to a market in Williamsburg and leave with her roommate's small, black Pomeranian "Suki."

Garcia went to Khim's Millennium Market Sunday and took Suki along while her owners were out of the country. Garcia said she tied Suki's leash to a post just outside the entrance to the store.

A few minutes later, a lady in a red shirt is seen on the video bending down to pet the dog, linger over the flowers, then head inside to pay for them.

The woman comes back outside, appears to unhook the leash, looks around and scoops the pup up and walks off.

When Garcia exits the store a few minutes later, Suki is gone and Garcia is devastated.

"I thought it was a bad dream, that I was going to wake up any moment and then you start realizing, it's the reality," Garcia said. "He's part of the family. He's not an object, not just a dog -- he's really part of our family."

Seth Scoblinoko lives just above the market with his own dog.

"It's a real shame and I can't believe it happened right here," Scoblinoko said. "It's just unbelievable that someone would take someone else's dog."

The woman in the video was seen driving a small, white sedan when she fled the area.

Garcia told CBS2 there is a reward for Suki's safe return.
