Doctors Urging Shots, Not Nasal Spray, For Children's Flu Protection

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - The American Academy of Pediatrics is making a new recommendation ahead of the upcoming flu season.

The agency is recommending all children six months and older get a flu shot.

They also say parents should opt for the actual shot instead of the nasal spray because the shot provides the most consistent protection against the flu virus.

Experts also recommend pregnant women get a flu shot because they can pass some protection onto their newborn.
