Devils Open Season With Two Games In Florida

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- The New Jersey Devils will play two road games before they return to the Prudential Center for their home opener.

The NBA released the 2016-17 schedules for all 30 teams on Tuesday.

New Jersey opens its season Oct. 13 at the Florida Panthers and then stays in Florida for an Oct. 15 game against the defending Eastern Conference champion Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Devils then play five of their next six games at home, starting with the Anaheim Ducks on Oct. 18.

New Jersey's first meeting against the New York Rangers is Dec. 11 at the Prudential Center. The don't play the Islanders until Feb. 18 -- the first of a back-to-back against them.

The Devils won't be acquiring many frequent flyer miles in February, when they play nine of their games at home.

Last season, New Jersey finished 38-36-8 and missed the playoffs.
