Mother, Daughter Accused Of Selling Heroin On Long Island

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A mother and daughter were arrested Tuesday, charged with peddling heroin.

As 1010 WINS' Sonia Rincon reported, police had been to the family's home in North Merrick more than 20 times in the last few years.

Neighbors have complained about them dealing drugs in the neighborhood, and on Monday night, police caught the mother and daughter in the act, Rincon reported.

Denise Burke, 51, and Danielle Burke, 18, are accused of selling heroin. Both have pleaded not guilty to criminal sale of a controlled substance and possession charges.

Two years ago, Denise Burke was arrested with her then-17-year-old son for heroin possession, Rincon reported.

Nassau County and Freeport police said they worked together on this case as part of the Long Island heroin initiative.
