Approximately 2.5 Million Dehumidifiers Recalled Due To Serious Fire Risk

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - The Consumer Products Safety Commission announced a recall of some 2.5 million dehumidifiers due to a serious fire risk.

The recall impacts Gree dehumidifiers, which are sold under numerous brand names: Danby, De'Longhi, Fedders, Fellini, Frigidaire, GE, Gree, Kenmore, Norpole, Premiere, Seabreeze, SoleusAir and SuperClima.

The CPSC says the dehumidifiers can overheat, smoke and catch fire. They have apparently caused $19 million in property damages.
