88-Year-Old Man Dies In Queens House Fire

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- An elderly man died after a fire ripped through a home in Jackson Heights, Queens, Sunday morning.

CBS2 reports the fire broke out around 4 a.m. on the first floor of a home on the 2500 block of 87th Street.

Police said the 88-year-old victim lived in the multi-story home. He was found on the first floor of the home unconscious and unresponsive, with severe burns on his body.

Two firefighters were treated for minor injuries.

It's not clear what caused the fire, or if anyone else was in the home.

The identity of the victim has not been released.
