Daily News Delivery Truck Driver Dies In Brooklyn Crash

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A Brooklyn man driving a Daily News delivery truck has died after a collision with a taxi cab at a Brooklyn intersection.

Police say it happened shortly before 6 a.m. Sunday. The driver, identified as 24-year-old Jonathan Long, was traveling south on Nostrand Avenue approaching Flushing Avenue in South Williamsburg as a taxi driver was on Flushing Avenue approaching Nostrand Avenue.

The collision between the two vehicles made the truck flip over. Long was taken to Woodhull Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A passenger in the truck was hospitalized in stable condition. The driver of the taxi was treated at the scene.

The Daily News reported that the cab driver, Tazul Islam, 26, has been driving a green taxi for two weeks. He was reportedly headed home after a 12-hour shift when the crash occurred.

Islam told the newspaper he had a green light. Police are continuing to investigate.
