Customs Agents Seize $65,200 In Counterfeit $100 Bills At JFK Express Cargo Facility

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Here's a new kind of mail fraud.

U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents say they found $65,200 in fake $100 bills at an express cargo facility at John F. Kennedy Airport, officials said Tuesday.

The fake cash was discovered hidden in place mats and a shoe bag that had been sent from Ecuador. They were detected at the facility Saturday.

No arrests have been made.

"Every day CBP officers are protecting the American public from various dangers," said CBP's New York Field Operations Director Robert Perez.

The investigation is ongoing.
