County Executive Steve Bellone Declares Suffolk Ready For Winter
COMMACK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Suffolk County's executive declared the area ready for winter Thursday.
County Executive Steve Bellone announced the Department of Public Works has added four new heavy-duty snow vehicles to its fleet.
He also said the county has loaded up on rock salt, with more than 20,000 pounds on hand.

"As you recall, many municipalities were running low and running out of salt and sand last year," Bellone told reporters, including WCBS 880's Sophia Hall and 1010 WINS' Mona Rivera, as he stood in front of a mountain of the melting agent.
Bellone added that the county is making temporary housing available so that no one is left out in the cold.
According to the latest weather forecast, there is a chance of snow in Suffolk on Thursday night and Friday.
