NYPD: Corrections Officer's Service Weapon Stolen From Car In Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Two men are wanted for stealing a gun from a correction officer's car in Brooklyn, police said.

The 61-year-old off-duty officer left his BMW parked on Kosciuszko Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant around 4:20 a.m. Friday morning.

About 30 minutes later, police said surveillance video shows one of the suspects open the passenger side door and go inside the car while the other suspect acts as a lookout. The car was apparently unlocked.

The suspects then took off on foot.

When the officer went back to his car around 6 a.m., police said he noticed his service weapon missing from the glove compartment.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS, visit the Crime Stoppers website, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577.
