Coram Man Allegedly Impersonated Police Officer, Attempted To Make Traffic Stop

NEW YORK (AP) -- Suffolk County authorities say a Coram man has been arrested on charges of impersonating a police officer.

Officials say an officer was on patrol Saturday night when he saw a man making what appeared to be a traffic stop on another car.

Authorities say 42-year-old Thomas O'Connor was wearing a shirt with ``Police K9 Unit'' as well as an Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms gold shield on a chain around his neck. He also had a police belt, with a black pellet gun, flashlight, and handcuffs. He was driving a car with red and white flashing lights on the dashboard.

O'Connor was arrested on charges including criminal impersonation.

A telephone number for O'Connor could not be found. No information on an attorney was available.
