Cops: Phony Real Estate Agent Disappeared After Taking Thousands From Victims
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The NYPD has asked the public for health in identifying a suspect wanted in connection with three grand larceny incidents that took place in the Bronx.
According to authorities, a female suspect was posing as a real estate agent and showed a basement apartment for rent on Van Nest Avenue.
After responding to a Craigslist ad, victims were told by a male, to meet with a woman who they then gave deposits to. All three victims were unable to contact the broker and get their funds back.
On Wednesday, February 25, a 29-year-old man met with the suspect and handed over $2,850. On Saturday, February 28, a 27-year-old woman gave the suspect a $1,900 deposit, and another woman handed over two $500 money orders in a separate incident.
The suspect has been described as a black woman, in her mid 20s. She is 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs 185 pounds, and was last seen wearing a v-neck t-shirt, black blazer, and blue jeans.
