Cops: East Rockaway Woman Involved In Two Accidents, Charged Under Leandra's Law

NEW YORK (AP) -- Police say a drunken driver crashed her car with a 6-year-old girl riding in it on Long Island, and officers soon realized the motorist had just gotten into another wreck nearby.

Nassau County police said driver Bianca Flores was awaiting arraignment Sunday. The 25-year-old was arrested Saturday on charges including breaking what's called Leandra's Law. It increases penalties for driving intoxicated with children in a car.

It wasn't clear whether Flores has a lawyer. A possible home phone for her in East Rockaway rang unanswered.

Nassau County police say their Rockville Centre counterparts were called to an accident, then found Flores had recently left the scene of another accident in nearby Lynbrook.

No one was injured. Family members were caring for the child.
