Cops: Couple Critically Wounded In Drive-By Shooting After Leaving Baby Shower In Queens

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man and woman were critically injured in a drive-by shooting after leaving a baby shower in Queens early Saturday morning.

Surveillance video exclusively obtained by CBS2's Erin Logan shows what appears to be shots fired.

Police say the couple, ages 31 and 37, was in their vehicle after leaving a baby shower held at a banquet hall around the corner from 32-10 101 St. in Elmhurst around 3:30 a.m. when someone opened fire, shattering the driver's side window of the BMW SUV with at least five rounds before speeding off.

Police say they may have gotten into an argument with someone at the baby shower. Luckily for them, the driver in the BMW managed to get to a nearby police station, where an uninjured 14-year-old boy in the back seat ran into the precinct to get help.

The couple was then rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst in critical condition.

CBS2 reached out to the owners of the event company to find out more about the crowd at the baby shower. All he would say is that the person who rented the space from him had been planning it for months and 100 people were invited.

He then added that when he checked in around midnight, an employee told him all was calm.

Three and a half hours later, Jose Trea says he woke up to the sound of those gunshots.

"Mi asleep, boom boom, no more," he said.

Trea said when he looked out his window he could see the alleged shooter's pickup truck speed off, while the victim's SUV sped off in a different direction -- likely towards the police station.

Nobody has been arrested as investigators search for the male shooter, according to police sources.
