Police: L.I. Man Pointed Gun That Fired, Killed Friend

COPIAGUE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A man was arrested and charged Friday with shooting and killing his friend at a Copiague house.

Police said Nefi Reyes, 18, pointed the handgun at his friend, Wilson Gil-Torres, also 18, when the gun discharged, Suffolk County police said.

Gil-Torres was struck in the torso in the incident at around 12:20 p.m., police said.

Gil-Torres, of Copiague, was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was pronounced dead.

Reyes was arrested and charged with manslaughter, and was to appear for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday.
