Construction Equipment Falls Onto Car, Causes Major Delays On Route 24 In Short Hills

SHORT HILLS, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A piece of construction equipment fell off a truck Tuesday afternoon in Short Hills, New Jersey, causing injuries and a major traffic backup on busy Route 24.

As Joe Biermann reported from Chopper 2, the piece of construction equipment fell onto a car. Paramedics were on the scene as of 5:15 p.m. treating the injured people inside the vehicle, Biermann reported.

Information about their conditions was not immediately available.

The accident happened at the Hobart Gap Road overpass on Route 24, and caused a six-mile delay on the eastbound side of the expressway with only one lane open.

The left lane on the westbound side was also obstructed by emergency equipment, Biermann reported.
