Connecticut Gov. Malloy Starts Talking Winter

HARTFORD, Conn. (CBSNewYork) -- Connecticut Gov. Dan Malloy says December is right around the corner and it's time to start bracing for the upcoming winter season.

"The average measurable snowfall in New York City is Dec. 16, the average in Boston is Dec. 3," Malloy said. "We're somewhere in between, we got to be ready."

Malloy said Connecticut has invested in new modern snow removal equipment and at a very good price, WCBS 880's Fran Schneidau reported.

He hesitates to make a long-term winter forecast, but last year's ice and piled up snow remain etched in his mind.

"I remember last year we had a great fall, a regular winter and then January came and we had nothing but pain all the way through April," Malloy said.

He suggests homeowners prepare by sealing windows and doors if they can, and getting their snow removal equipment ready.
