Connecticut Towns Mistakenly Placed Under Tsunami Warning

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (CBSNewYork) -- Towns along the Connecticut coast were briefly placed under a tsunami warning Thursday after a slip-up.

The alert included Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex and New London counties, as well as part of the Long Island Sound.

The National Weather Service said a routine, internal test was accidentally broadcast.

A tweet later went out telling people of the mistake.
