6 Children Suffer Electric Shocks On Connecticut Amusement Park Ride

NEW LONDON, Conn. (CBSNewYork) -- Six children were hospitalized late Tuesday after they all suffered an electrical shock on an amusement ride in Connecticut.

The children were all on the Scrambler ride at Ocean Beach Park in New London, Connecticut around 2 p.m. when they suffered the shock, according to CBS affiliate WFSB-TV, Hartford.

The children all suffered minor injuries and were taken to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London, WFSB reported. One boy suffered minor burns to his hands when he touched a bar while leaving the ride area, WFSB reported.

The ride operator also felt a shock as he turned off the ride, WFSB reported.

The cause of the shock was not known late Tuesday.

The area around the rides at the park was shut down Tuesday evening.
