Community Reps Plead With De Blasio To Block High-End Union Square Bar

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Plans to build a high-end bar in Union Square were turned upside down on Sunday.

Community representatives pleaded with Mayor Bill de Blasio to do away with the Bloomberg era plan and said that the establishment would displace families and eliminate one of the city's most historic free speech sites.

The city's law department said that the agreement can be terminated at any time and that the mayor has the legal right to cancel the contract for any reason.
