Slashing On A Train Subway Platform In Columbus Circle

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- One man is in the hospital and another is in custody after a slashing at the Columbus Circle subway station early Monday morning.

Police said it started as an argument on an uptown A train just before 2 a.m. and spilled out onto the platform at the station.

One man who works at a newsstand on the platform said it looked like a big brawl.

"More than 10 -- 10 to 12 to 15, like that," he told 1010 WINS' Samantha Liebman. "It looked like two gangs were fighting."

The victim, a 21-year-old man, suffered a slash wound to the neck. He was taken to the hospital, where he is expected to be OK.

Another 21-year-old man was taken into custody in connection with the slashing. A woman, who is also being questioned, was arrested for an unrelated incident, CBS2's Magdalena Doris reported.

Charges against the male suspect are pending.
