Video Shows Rough Arrest In Columbus Circle; Skateboarder Claims 'Brutality'

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Video was posted this week showing the rough arrest of a skateboarder in Columbus Circle.

In the video, taken around 5 p.m. Sunday, a police officer is seen with his arm around the neck of a skateboarder and wrestling with him until the man is on the ground.

Police said the skateboarder – identified as Yibin Mu – was illegally riding his skateboard in Columbus Circle.

Police said Mu refused to show ID when the officer stopped him, and resisted arrest.

But Mu posted video of his arrest onto YouTube, where he called it "police brutality." He wrote that he was "non-aggressive" the whole time and was grabbed and placed in a "chokehold" by the officer "without warning."

He was charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, defacing park property, and failure to comply with posted signs.

Police said the incident was "under internal investigation" Tuesday night.
