Superintendent: Students Disciplined For Snapchat Of Classmate With Words 'ISIS'

WOODBRIDGE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Several students have been disciplined after someone took a photo of a Colonia High School senior and posted it to a social media app with the word "ISIS."

Schools Superintendent Robert Zega told NJ.com the incident was hateful, biased and racist.

As WCBS 880's Ginny Kosola reported, Saira Ali, who was a senior at the time, was wearing a head scarf in the photo, which was posted on Snapchat last June.

Zega said at least two students have been disciplined and cellphones have been banned from the school's lunchroom, Kosola reported.

Ali is now a freshman biology student at Rutgers University. She said she and her parents would like to see more corrective action, and wonder whether the change will stop bullying at the school, Kosola reported.
