NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- An elderly man was found murdered inside of a Co-Op City home on Thursday.

As CBS2's Tracee Carrasco reported, investigators were processing a gruesome scene inside of the apartment at 120 Bellamy Loop where the 83-year-old man was found stabbed to death.

Police said the man was found dead with multiple stab wounds to the torso just after 4:30 p.m., by his 52-year-old son.

His body was found in a bedroom of a 25th floor apartment.

The knife used in the attack was found nearby in the living room.

Detectives were in and out of the building all evening long. The New York City Medical Examiner's office will determine the cause of death.

Police do not have anyone in custody, and would not confirm if they were questioning the man's son or if there was forced entry into the apartment.
