Clinton, Sanders Battling For Key Votes Ahead Of Super Tuesday

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Democratic presidential hopefuls Hillary Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders are campaigning hard just one day before Super Tuesday voting.

Sanders is campaigning in Minnesota and Massachusetts on Monday.

According to recent polls,  Sanders is expected to beat Clinton by a wide margin in his home state of Vermont. He'll vote in Burlington and host a celebration with musical guests later in the evening at an expo center, 1010 WINS' Steve Kastenbaum reported.

His campaign, however, will be paying close attention to what's going on in Massachusetts. Recent polls show Sanders and Clinton locked in a close race in the state.

Which explains why Clinton was campaigning in Springfield Monday morning. She's expected to make appearances in Boston later in the day.

Her husband is also heading to Massachusetts. Bill Clinton is set to attend an 11 p.m. rally in Worcester.

Clinton has made almost no mention of her primary rival in recent appearances, underscoring how her political fortunes have shifted since her 22-point loss in New Hampshire earlier this month.

Instead, she's focusing more on her potential general election opponents, asking Democratic primary voters for their help combating Republican economic policies. Clinton said the two parties will have a "great debate'' over the economy.

Clinton has also cast herself as a civil alternative to the insults, bullying, and personal attacks that have consumed the Republican race.

"What we can't let happen is the scapegoating, the flaming, the finger pointing that is going on the Republican side,'' she told voters gathered in Springfield on Monday. "It really undermines our fabric as a nation. So, I want to do everything I can in this campaign to set us on a different course.''

Over the weekend, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio continued to go on the attack against GOP front runner Donald Trump.

From Rubio mocking "Hair Force One" to Cruz dismissing Trump's wealth as a result of "picking the right Daddy" and suggesting the billionaire has business ties to the Mafia, the two first-term senators have unleashed a personal and policy-based barrage.

Rubio said on CBS that Trump "is trying to pull off the biggest scam in American political history."
