Clarkstown Crackdown: Only Town Residents Allowed In Town Parks
CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - There's certainly an attraction to the Clarkstown, New York, parks, pools and manicured fields, but some residents complain the town parks are being overrun by out-of-towners.
Town Supervisor Alex Gromack tells WCBS 880's Sean Adams the town is going to step up enforcement of an old town code that only residents are allowed in town parks.
"This has been an investment that the people of Clarkstown have made on our parks. It's for their enjoyment and we just want to make sure that everybody knows, residents alike, that they need to have ID," Gromack said.
Gromack pointed out there are a number of county and state parks and every town and village has their own state park.
Many residents WCBS 880 spoke with think this is a good idea.
"I agree with it 100 percent, especially with the taxes we pay, we should be entitled to use our own parks" one Clarkstown resident said.
However, if someone is not a resident of Clarkstown but is the guest of someone who is, they will be permitted.
