Former Civilian Complaint Review Board Exec To Go Ahead With Lawsuit Alleging Collusion With NYPD
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The former executive director of the NYPD Civilian Complaint Review Board will be allowed to move forward with a lawsuit that questions the board's willingness to punish misuse of stop-and-frisk enforcement.
As WCBS 880's Marla Diamond reported, the ruling came eight months after Tracy Catapano-Fox filed suit. Her attorney, Michael Willemin, said it keeps intact the heart of the case.
"(The heart if the case) is that Ms. Catapano-Fox was retaliated against and terminated for her complaints of sexual harassment, as well as collusion with the NYPD and the publication of reports with false statistics," Willemin said.
Catapano-Fox, who was appointed by former Mayor Michael Bloomberg, singled out CCRB Chairman Richard Emery. She accused him of altering stop-and-frisk tactics and helping cover up the NYPD's failure to carry out unlawful stops.
The judge sided with the city in throwing out Catapano-Fox's claim that she was retaliated against.
