Special Election To Fill Jumaane Williams' City Council Seat Today

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A special election is underway to fill the New York City Council seat left vacant by now-Public Advocate Jumaane Williams.

Williams represented Brooklyn's 45th District, which includes Flatbush, Flatlands, Midwood and Canarsie.

Eight candidates are running for his seat. Whoever wins will serve for the remainder of the year, then have to run again in the primary election in June and the general election in November.
