NYC Council Speaker Heads To New Hampshire To Help Hillary Clinton Campaign

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton is campaigning in New Hampshire with three rallies on Saturday.

But Clinton won't be going it alone, she'll be getting some help from New York City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito, who traveled to New Hampshire to offer her support.

Mark-Viverito was scheduled to appear with the national president of the SEIU-1199 health workers' union.

The City Council speaker has become a surrogate for Latino voters on the Clinton campaign trail. Mark-Viverito campaigned last year in Nevada for the former secretary of state.

Mayor Bill de Blasio also has campaigned for Clinton, knocking on hundreds of doors and making campaign calls last weekend in Iowa.

Clinton lags Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders in polls in New Hampshire ahead of Tuesday's primary. She recorded a close win over Sanders in the Iowa caucuses earlier this week.

Sanders is also holding a rally in the state on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Republican presidential hopefuls will be facing off in their eighth debate Saturday night.
