City Council Draws Praise From Riders Alliance For Expanding Bus Clock Initiative
NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- The New York City Council has gotten praise from bus riders for expanding the number of countdown clocks at bus stops.
The grassroots 'Riders Alliance' thanked the council for allocating nearly $2.8-million to install more than 100 clocks at bus stops.
The program is already in place at two stops on Staten Island and the clocks will soon appear in all five boroughs.
"It makes buses a lot more easy to use. It takes the mystery out of them," Rebecca Bailin told WCBS 880's Jim Smith.
The clocks tell riders when the next bus is arriving.
"A really great way to make buses more modern and more usable," she said.
The clocks put the bus location at the stop for all to see, otherwise riders have to check on the buses location on their computers or smartphones.
