Firefighters From Across Country Take Part In Annual Stair Climb At Citi Field

NEW YORK (AP) -- First responders from across the country paid tribute to their fallen firefighters at an annual event at New York's Citi Field.

The National Stair Climb for Fallen Firefighters was held on Saturday.

Participants, including family and friends, climbed 2,200 steps in the stadium to symbolize the 110 stories that New York City firefighters climbed on 9/11 at the World Trade Center.

It's a joint event of the Fire Department of New York and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation that honors firefighters who have died in the line of duty.

Proceeds from the event benefit both groups' counseling services.
