Gov. Cuomo: NYC Monument Honoring Essential Workers Will Be Ready By Labor Day

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A new monument will soon honor the essential workers who served their communities during the pandemic.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo says the Circle of Heroes monument in Battery Park City will be ready by Labor Day.

It will feature 19 red maple trees to symbolize the 19 groups of essential workers who served during the pandemic.

An eternal flame will also be included as a symbol of everlasting gratitude.
