Christie Omits NJ's 'Transportation Trust Fund' From Budget Address
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- Gov. Chris Christie made news on the state's beleaguered Transportation Trust Fund this week by not mentioning it in his 25-minute budget address.
That's drawn the ire of many interest groups pushing for a long-term fix to the fund.
For residents and anyone who drives on New Jersey's roads who have heard from lawmakers and others about how dire the state's roads and bridges are it's not because Christie doesn't address the issue in his budget.
He does, just not to the satisfaction of many interest groups and lawmakers.
Christie is proposing to keep the fund solvent by issuing authorized but unused bonds.
It's that additional debt that leaves some feeling disappointed.
